Carol Hendrix Burrus
sings, plays the flute and piano, and writes just about all of the band's songs.
She comes from very musical genes and started singing at an absurdly early age. She played in the Houston
variety band Riverside through high school, college, and her early twenties.
She then took the role of lead vocalist for the Houston Society Jazz Orchestra
for six years until 1992. Her career with these two bands enabled Carol to
participate in 35,267 wedding receptions.
When not writing music or singing with the band, Carol spends her time as a music teacher at Neff Elementary in Houston. And then of course she does wholesome things like caring for 2 kids, cooking, volunteering at the First Unitarian Universalist church, and going on walks with the dog. The creative pursuit of writing and performing music brings much joy and satisfaction to her life.
